Charity Case - The Movie
The band that made millions of dollars ... and gave it all away.
Logline
What happens when a Syndicated Radio DJ with zero musical experience decides to start a band and teams up with an established music industry veteran? You get an unlikely scenario that raises over $1,000,000 for terminally ill and chronically disabled children and touches 1000’s of lives.
Feature DocumentaryCase Study
Audio Post Mixer, Designer, Editor
– Joe Miller
When Eddie Z (producer/engineer at The Playroom Studio) brought me on board to mix Charity Case: The Movie, the film’s audio was in a common state for any documentary timeline… a patchwork of found footage, archival live recordings, and uneven location sound. It needed clarity, cohesion, and emotional drive without losing the raw character of the story.
We delivered:
- A full theatrical surround mix
- Stereo fold-down
- YouTube/social LUFS-compliant mix
- Sound design to support narrative impact
Because Eddie and I have a history of living and working in the Charlotte region — he’s been a mentor and collaborator — the process was smooth and focused. We aligned early on creative intent, cleaned and repaired inconsistent material, and shaped a soundtrack that supports both dialogue clarity and musical energy.
The result: a festival-ready audio mix that honors the film’s heart and makes it listenable across formats. What started as fragmented, inconsistent audio became a cohesive soundtrack that helped the film communicate its story with clarity and emotional weight.
