ADR: Episode 2Case Study

Major studios need ADR. Automated Dialogue Replacement refers to the process of re-recording audio in a more controlled and quieter setting. Usually captured in a postproduction studio, ADR is a way to improve audio quality or reflect changes in dialogue and performance.

Our job is to ingest the workprint of episodes which need ADR. Then host a live stream connection between the actor in our studio and ADR supervisor, and/or director, and/or others. Our session plays the film for the actor to see with the words to be replaces on screen and in sync, and records their new performance. This recording session is streamed to the team who talks with the actor and directs their performance to ensure everyone is happy. We provide edits in real time and deliver back needed documents and session files with all recordings. The post-production team finalizes the edits and pushes the new replacement dialog through the pipeline which ends at the mixing stage.
